AMPLIFIER

This project was commissioned by Gallery Helmrinderknecht in Zurich for a group exhibition exploring kinetic mobiles. My piece is a one-off and the smallest mobile in the show. A bright LED source sits below the slowly shifting mobile to cast it's moving play of shadows onto the ceiling above in a historic Swiss manor house.

The mobile itself is very light weight and delicate Balsa wood and it is suspended inside a very strong uplighting base made of 119 solid aluminium rings. The base protects the mobile from changes in air movement so the mobile needs the heat generated from the LED light within the base to move. Light and object are intrinsically connected.
